As part of each exam, we perform an oral cancer screening.
This includes checking for signs of oral cancer on the tongue, lips, gums,
floor of the mouth, and soft palate and feeling for lumps and signs of
abnormal tissue changes on the neck and inside of the mouth.
The American Cancer Society estimates that oral cancer strikes tens of
thousands of people each year, and only 56% of those diagnosed survive
more than five years. Early detection is vital to surviving oral cancer.
